What I especially understand

Many of my clients are high-achieving, first-generation, or navigating cultural identity and family expectations: holding high standards, being the one others rely on, or balancing who they are with who they were raised to be.

If that sounds familiar, there’s room for all of it here. Whatever your background, I’ll be curious about the context you come from.

How I work: trauma-informed, relational and integrative care, at a pace that feels safe.

Sunlit houseplants, including a tall spiny cactus and trailing succulent, arranged in pots on a radiator against a wall.

EMDR: As an EMDR Certified therapist, I use EMDR to help painful experiences feel less charged in the present.

Internal Family Systems (IFS): With Level 2 IFS training, I help you get to know the different parts of you, like the critic, the worrier or the one who never stops, with curiosity instead of judgment.

Mind-body awareness: We notice how stress and safety show up physically, so insight and regulation can grow together.

When practical tools would help, I also draw on skills from DBT and CBT for managing difficult emotions and thoughts.

Hi, I’m Tatiana, LPC-S

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and the founder of Seneca Counseling in Houston. I work with individuals, couples and families who are carrying more than they’d like to: old pain, anxious patterns, strained relationships, or the sense that something needs to change even when life looks fine from the outside.

I grew up in a Mexican-American family in the Rio Grande Valley. That experience shapes how I listen: I know that family, culture and expectations can be sources of strength and sources of pressure at the same time. Whatever your background, I’ll be curious about the context you come from.

I’m also pursuing doctoral studies in Mind-Body Medicine, with a focus on applied psychophysiology, the science of how emotional experience and the body influence each other. That study continues to deepen the mind-body perspective I bring to therapy.

I believe therapy works best as a real partnership. My hope is that you leave our work feeling more understood, by me and by yourself.
